Current Projects
Currently the foundation is contributing towards the following projects.
Completed projects
We are happy with all the great research that has already been done. We are also happy to share the results. But this will only be done after all parties involved have given their consent. We share the results because maybe it can answer questions you might be struggling with. It might also help you to more narrowly define the researchproject that you want to submit to us.
Potential projects
As an organization we are open to financially support all solutions that someone would like to research. Unfortunately, we cannot support all projects. There is a team that will study the proposals and afterwards we will decide to support the project.
We believe the subjects below are interesting. If you have an idea to execute this project, please let us know.
Separating aluminum alloys
Many aircraft models that are flying today, and some that are still being made, have a lot of aluminum. It’s, however, built of different allows. This results in downcycling as the melting mix of the different alloys is a result. Is there a way possible to separate the different alloys, technical but also financial?
Plastic with fire retardant
The plastic in aircraft have fire retardant in it. This is required to prevent a fire growing too fast. That makes the recycling of those plastics very difficult, if not even impossible. Is there a solution to remove the fire retardant from the plastic making it possible to use the plastic for new products?
Defuel an aircraft more efficient
Aircraft that reach end-of-life will have fuel in the tank. There are ways to remove the remaining fuel. There is, however, a lot of fuel that can’t be removed. What is the influence of not removing it for the people removing the components and the cutting of the aircraft? Is there a technique possible to remove that fuel?
